I accept Aetna insurance plans via Headway.
If you would like to use your insurance but have a provider other than Aetna, I may be able to work with you as an “out-of-network” provider.
Some insurance plans offer out-of-network coverage. Typically, this means that you would pay full cost for services up front and your insurance company would reimburse you for a portion of the cost. However, not all insurance companies work with out-of-network providers.
Because out-of-network coverage varies by insurance plan, please contact your insurance company to confirm that they will reimburse you for sessions with me. If they will, I can provide you with a document called a superbill after each session. This is what you will submit to the insurance company for reimbursement. Again, please note that you will be responsible for paying for sessions upfront.
I know the world of insurance can be confusing. If you are feeling overwhelmed by all of the terms, click here to see an excellent blog post that explains what I have mentioned here in greater detail.

Yes, I do!

If you are interested in a sliding scale rate, please include that in the contact form. I will then be able to inform you if there is an opening.

I do not currently provide in-person therapy.
-
It depends!
Research has shown that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy for many people.
However, there are some mental health concerns that may be better treated in-person. For example, if you have severe symptoms, such as active suicidality or psychosis, you may need in-person services for frequent crisis management.
Online therapy also requires that you have a safe, private location with a secure and consistent internet connection to attend your sessions.
Here are some additional things to consider when choosing between online and in-person therapy:
• Your comfort level with technology: If you are not comfortable using technology, in-person therapy may be a better option for you.
• Your schedule: If you have a busy schedule, online therapy may be a more convenient option for you.
• Individual needs: With online therapy, you can connect with a therapist from the comfort of your own home. This means you don't have to worry about transportation, parking, or inaccessible office spaces.
Still not sure if online therapy is right for you? Contact me!

The best way to know if we are a good fit is for us to get to know each other. Reviewing my website is a good start. Scheduling a brief (15 minute) phone consultation will allow us to get to know each other more as well.
I also suggest that you focus on a few main points when deciding if a therapist is a good fit:
• Do your personalities seem to work well together?
• Does the therapist have availability that matches yours?
• What is the therapist’s approach to clients?
• Do I feel safe and comfortable with the therapist?
• Is the therapist open to feedback?
Some of these questions can be answered by reviewing my website and engaging in a brief phone consultation.
Other questions may be only answered over time. That is why I suggest that you spend two to three sessions getting to know me and my style before making a final decision about fit.
However, this is only a recommendation and I encourage you to do what feels right for you and your needs.

During the first appointment, we will discuss why you are seeking therapy, what your goals are, and a history of your experiences that led you to seeking therapy.
-
Initial sessions (intake) are 60 minutes. Ongoing therapy sessions are 50-55 minutes.
For clients using insurance, there may be options available for 45 minute sessions depending on your coverage.

I offer appointments during the following times:
• Tuesday - Thursday: 8AM - 6PM (last appointment 5PM)
• Fridays: 8AM - 12PM (last appointment 11AM)
All appointment times are based in Central Standard Time (CST). Please keep this in mind if working with me from a different time zone.
I do not provide late evening appointments or weekend appointments.
-
Maybe!
I have been authorized to practice under the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT). This means I am allowed to provide telepsychology (video appointments) in states that participate in the PSYPACT agreement.
Click here to see the map indicating which states have chosen to participate in PSYPACT. States in dark blue are eligible. A list of participating states is also included on the page at the link above for those not able to utilize the map.
Unfortunately, most insurance companies do not cover out-of-state mental health services. If you live in a PSYPACT state other than Texas and you want to use your insurance to work with me, I suggest contacting your insurance company directly to ask more about your out-of-network benefits and if working with providers in another state can be reimbursed using your specific insurance plan. Not sure what to ask? Click here to see a blog post that can help!

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
